39. What to Do When Big Emotions Take Over Both You... AND Your Child

Big emotions. Dysregulation. Meltdowns. I share a personal story about how I learned to regulate myself while supporting my child, and how to find calm in the chaos.

I had a full on mom meltdown at a Friday night baseball game, the kind where your child is losing it, and you’re right there losing your sh*t with them.

In this episode, I share a real moment of parenting through big emotions and dysregulation. I open up about our son’s sensory processing disorder, what happens when routines get thrown off, and how my own stories and guilt made the moment so much bigger.

More importantly, I talk about the difference between emotions and feelings, the power of pausing instead of forcing, and how a simple hug helped me co-regulate and come back to center.

If you’ve ever felt helpless during your child’s meltdown, or found yourself triggered in the moment, this episode is for you.

You’re not alone.

Let’s talk about how to move from chaos to calm, one breath or curse word at a time.
